Bulgarian authentic folk singer Irena Nedelcheva is one of the special guests of BAF 2014.


462698_341392172562554_1394529326_oThe fourth edition of the Bulgarian Arts Festival gets under way on Friday April 25 with official opening presenting art Exhibit “Balkan Echoes”and Green Sky Jazz Project by Anton Apostolov. 

Festival features include Bulgarian movie, Theater night, Jazz concert with one of the most famous drummer of Bulgaria Stoyan Yankoulov – Stundji as well as a Dance and Dinner Bulgarian folk night with Authentic Bulgarian singer Irena Nedelcheva who will appear on stage together with Stoyan Yankoulov and other musicians on May 2 at St. George Orthodox church, 17 Regent Street, Toronto, ON

1512121_750641231614512_1140787175_oIrena Nedelcheva is born in 1961 in Ruse, Bulgaria. She has graduated The National School of Folk Arts “Philip Kutev” – Kotel, as well as the University in Town of Shumen, Bulgaria majoring in music pedagogy and methodology of teaching folk singing.

She was working many years as an artist/singer at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts – Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Over the years she was involved in audio and video projects of Bulgarian National Television and the Bulgarian National Radio. She teaches folk singing in Bulgaria as a private teacher as well as in The National School of Folk Arts “Philip Kutev” – Kotel.

As a musician Irena travels all around Bulgaria and she has participated at numerous International Folk Festivals in Switzerland, Poland, Germany and three consecutive years was special guest at the International Festival in Finland.
